CVRT Testing

The CVRT is a mandatory roadworthiness test for commercial vehicles. Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Testing leads to safer, more reliable vehicles. And it’s the law.

A few key points:

The CVRT Made Simple - How the CVRT Works

1.
Arrival

Bring your vehicle registration documents with you. Our tester will quickly confirm that the details match your vehicle.

2.
The Test

The inspection usually takes 30–60 minutes, depending on the vehicle. You’re welcome to wait while it’s being tested.

3.
Results

When the test is finished, you’ll get a report showing whether your vehicle has passed or failed.

4.
If you pass

You’ll receive a pass statement. From there, a Certificate of Roadworthiness (CRW) is issued, which you’ll need when renewing your motor tax.

5.
If you fail

Don’t worry. If you return within 21 days and have driven less than 4,000 km, only the items that caused the failure need to be re-checked. A retest usually costs around half the price of a full test.

6.
Why it matters

A valid CRW is required for all commercial vehicles over one year old. While the certificate isn’t displayed on your windscreen, it’s essential for getting your tax disc.
